AREA III - PRESIDENTS’ MEETING

MARCH 15, 2008 – MINUTES

Welcome and Introductions – Diana Sawin, Area III Director

Introductions – Guests and Self Introductions - Guest, Jeanne Gelwicks, Zeta Zeta Chapter – Each Chapter discussed the number of members in their Chapter and where and what they did at monthly meetings.

Approval of Last Meeting Minutes – Barbara Mortensen, approved and seconded

Treasurer’s Report – Roseann Krane – Exact amount needs to be refigured since not all Chapters have paid dues yet. At present time, funds are $3,630.90. Fall Conference Income- $2,981.50, Expenses – $2,752.45, Profit $229.00. Dues increase was added to the agenda to be discussed. When all the dues are in, Roseann will be able to give the exact amount of income and expenditures.

Chi State Business

Jeanne Gelwicks presented a newspaper story, dated March 15, on school districts in Turmoil” because of budget cuts. She presented what she did at her Zeta Zeta Chapter meeting in regards to writing to State Politicians about the educational budget cuts.

A suggestion was made by Roseann Krane to list Delta Kappa Gamma meetings in a local newspaper to advertise our organization

Bring a book to convention for “Buck-a-Book” sale

Chapters can have a booth to sell items, if you pay a vendor’s fee. Items you sell can’t be in conflict with items sold at the Delta Kappa Gamma store

Necrology – Send in form to honor person(s), who have passed away, at a ceremony at the Convention. The Chapter Treasurer gets the forms in the mail. Send in the form even if no one in your Chapter has died.

A motion was made, seconded and approved to pay for the Area III Director’s fees to the Chi State Convention.

Alpha Iota Chapter is in charge of the information desk. They still need volunteers to man the desk. They need 3 people for each time span.

The current Chapter President or delegate member votes at the Convention.

Only one General Session is planned for Convention
